Suicide First Aid (SFA)

Suicide First Aid (SFA) training

Attend our one-day and half-day suicide intervention skills courses and you could have a conversation that saves a life.

The UK’s only qualification in this topic, accredited by City and Guilds of London. Teaching and learning materials are provided by the UK’s most experienced suicide prevention education organisation.

What do you learn?

Designed to teach you how to spot the signs of someone who may be thinking of suicide, SFA takes you step-by-step through starting a conversation that helps a vulnerable person to consider their options and helps you both to stay safe.

You will learn what prevents someone from seeking support and the partnerships, agencies and resources that are available to help.

Suicide is preventable. Most people who die by suicide were vulnerable because they were not receiving any kind of mental health support or care and felt alone.

Why choose Suicide First Aid training?

SFA courses form part of a proactive organisational strategy around suicide prevention. They are:

  • Delivered by accredited trainers with experience of personally conducting suicide interventions.
  • Suitable for all adults in the workplace aged 16+. No prior learning in this subject is assumed.
  • Delivered in small groups of 12 or less so that we can create a confidential “safe place”, which enables us to hear and support any personal disclosures.
  • Suitable for all industries and multi-sector practitioners
  • Part of the City & Guilds Level 4 qualification in Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Interventions
